Air conditioner costs: seasons and installation

Calculate with your own usage

No local tariff is supplied. Enter a rate from your bill or contract in the selected currency. This flat-rate estimate does not separately model tiers, time-of-use rates, standing charges or taxes.

Formula reviewed: 2026-09-19 · Inputs: your measurements or product labels, not an official tariff database.

Air conditioners do not necessarily consume the same energy all year. Separate energy in a month of use from months used per year. If you use both heating and cooling, consider their different consumption patterns.

Use monthly kWh measured directly or reported under comparable test conditions, months of use, and purchase, transport, removal and installation quotes in the same currency. Do not enter cooling capacity as electrical input power.

Fictional example: 100 kWh per active month, 4 months per year, 5 years and a rate of 0.2 currency units/kWh gives 100 × 4 × 5 × 0.2 = 400 currency units. This is neither a local tariff nor product performance data.

Compare candidates suitable for the same space. The cost formula cannot determine installation suitability, noise or condition. Enter your months of use; the tool does not assume a particular calendar month is summer.

If energy use is unknown, compare upfront costs only. Track care tasks and actual monthly use in your records. Check the appliance manual for care methods and intervals.
