Compare like-for-like wash cycles
Cold, hot and hygiene cycles have different consumption. Multiplying motor rated watts by full cycle time may misrepresent heating and pauses. Measure kWh over a complete cycle.
Water and supplied hot water are separate
This electricity estimate excludes water charges and externally supplied hot water. For a washer-dryer, check whether the measurement includes drying before adding a separate dryer cost.
Illustrative arithmetic
0.6 kWh/cycle × 20 cycles/month × 12 months = 144 kWh/year. At an assumed rate of 0.2 currency units/kWh, the annual cost is 28.8 currency units. This is not a typical product rating.
Before replacing a washer
Compare energy savings with purchase and installation costs. Machines with different capacity or washing performance are not interchangeable on energy cost alone.
