Dehumidifier electricity cost calculator — hours and seasons
Calculate with your own usage
Formula reviewed: 2026-09-19 · Inputs: your measurements or product labels, not an official tariff database.
Compare energy costs using average electrical power and actual operating time. Tank capacity and moisture removal in litres per day are not watts.
How can I estimate average power?
Where possible, divide measured kWh over several days by the hours measured, then multiply by 1,000. A rated wattage alone may not reflect compressor cycling.
Should I enter 24 hours if it stays plugged in?
If average power includes standby and idle periods, use the hours connected. If power only describes active operation, enter active hours. Do not count the same idle-time reduction twice.
Illustrative calculation
250 average watts × 8 hours/day × 20 days/month × 4 months/year = 160 kWh/year. At a manually entered rate of 0.2 currency units/kWh, this is 32 currency units/year. This is arithmetic, not product or tariff data.
Limits of the savings scenario
The 20% scenario assumes usage can actually be reduced by that amount. Humidity, weather and room conditions differ. This is not a recommendation to reduce dehumidification needed for health or building care.
